G2 Apocalypse GMT - 39mm USA
SUMMARY
The G2 Apocalypse GMT is a 1970s cinema–inspired 15ATM GMT watch that offers a more affordable entry into Vaer’s GMT USA-assembled lineup. Powered by a Swiss Ronda quartz GMT movement, this model ensures precision timekeeping across multiple time zones, making it a reliable and cost-effective alternative to the G5 Meridian automatic. The watch features a 39mm brushed stainless steel case, a fixed radial-brushed steel bezel, and a sapphire crystal, combining durability with everyday practicality.
WHO IS THIS WATCH FOR?
The G2 Apocalypse GMT is ideal for those seeking a distinctive, travel-ready GMT watch at a more accessible price point. With its quartz movement, the G2 provides exceptional accuracy and low-maintenance reliability for frequent travelers. Its 39mm case size fits comfortably on most wrists, while the stripped-bezel design offers a versatile, understated aesthetic that stands apart from traditional bi-color GMTs.
INSPIRATION
The G2 Apocalypse GMT draws inspiration from one of the most recognizable cinematic GMTs of the 1970s — the Rolex GMT-Master worn by Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now. Unlike traditional travel watches of the era, that reference removed the signature bi-color bezel insert, resulting in a more restrained and unconventional silhouette.
Our interpretation preserves that stripped-back visual language while restoring full GMT functionality. A fixed radial-brushed steel bezel replaces the traditional rotating insert, subtly reshaping the watch’s proportions and highlighting the twisted lug architecture and external crown guard. Rectangular 24-hour markers are integrated along the dial perimeter, maintaining clear second-time-zone tracking without reintroducing a conventional bezel.
The result is a fully functional GMT that blends field-watch restraint with travel-watch capability — rooted in 1970s cultural context, yet built for daily wear.
